The tallest trekking peak of Nepal

The Mera Peak is the tallest trekking peak of Nepal. The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has identified the Mera Peak’s altitude as 6476 m from sea level. It is not only the tallest trekking peak of Nepal but one of the most beautiful mountain peaks as well. In the alternative region of the Everest region of Nepal, climbers can surely get the wilderness adventure as well as tranquility filled serene travel experiences. Moreover, the joy of reaching the highest trekking peak of Nepal is a feat to achieve at least once in a lifetime if you are an adventure enthusiast.

Get Three types of Mera Peak Climbing Itinerary

Almost all the trekking and climbing agencies of Nepal offer the same trekking itinerary for the Mera Peak Climbing trip. We are one of the few trekking agencies that offers three different itineraries to do the Mera Peak Climbing in Nepal. It is to provide the choices that trekkers or climbers deserve. In addition, the Mountain Watch Trek believes that while operating any kinds of holiday activities our clients’ investment on traveling must be returned three – fold in the form of services and memories.

The major Mera Peak Climbing Itinerary can be termed as the Short Mera Peak Climb package too. It has 15 days’ itinerary and it is also called as the Upper Route of the Mera peak Climbing.

Itinerary of Mera Peak Climbing via Road

The second itinerary to climb Mera Peak is the route of Paiya and Pangom after using the Lukla flight from Kathmandu. The third itinerary is very thoughtful as it doesn’t include the Lukla Flight. Most of the trip cancellations and delays are due to the unpredictable nature of the Lukla Airport. The geographical terrain and unstable weather conditions make it hard for the flight to take place properly. Therefore, the Mountain Watch Trek sent its climbing guides and trekking guides to scout the place to find out the safe overland trip to reach the trail head of Mera Peak Climbing. Travelers can reach Khari Khola from Kathmandu after staying overnight either in Phaplu or Salleri. This itinerary is slowly getting lots of attention. You can contact our travel planners if you wish to follow the similar itinerary.

Mountains seen from the summit of Mera Peak

Get an outstanding scenery of 5 mountains listed under the top ten mountains of the world. These mountains seen from the top of the Mera Peak are Everest, Lhotse, Choyou, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga. Besides these iconic mountains, climbers can also get astounding scenery of mountains from Mahalangur Himalayan range and Makalu Barun Himalayan range. These ranges include mountains from the Tibetan region as well as Nepalese region. Therefore, the summit of Mera Peak is one of the best vantage points to spot mountains.

Why Mera Peak is considered as the easiest trekking peak to climb?

The Mera Peak is considered as the easiest trekking peak to climb because there are not technically difficult sections. You don’t need to do rock climbing or ice climbing using ice axes. All you have to do is wear the crampons and walk on the trail alongside the climbing guide. The trail is through glacier and snow – covered open terrain.

Best Season, Permits and Cost

The best time to climb Mera Peak is during spring season even if the cost of climbing the Mera Peak is high during this time of the year. Yes, the peak climbing cost of Mera Peak during spring season (March – May) is USD 250 per person. However, the cost of Mera Peak Climbing for autumn season is 125 $ per person. Winter/Summer season cost of climbing permit is 70 $ per person. Don’t climb the mountain during winter and summer season. Besides the peak climbing cost, you must get the Makalu Barun National Park permit and Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance cost.

Climbing Training in Khare Village before climbing Mera Peak

If you don’t have any kinds of prior mountaineering training before attempting to climb the peak then don’t worry. You don’t require to be an experienced climber to climb the mountain. A beginner can also climb the mountain. Climbers will be given the basic training to handle rope walking, ice – axe handling, and crampons walking in the Khare village during the acclimatization training day.

Meals and Accommodation

Except in the Mera High Camp, climbers can get lodging facilities in the tea houses during the entire trek to the Mera Base Camp or Khare Village. They will be given good meals of different choices. However, during the one-night stay in the Mera High Camp, lodging is in the tented accommodation and meals will be served by the climbing cooks and helpers.

Feel free to inquire with our travel planners and customize your Mera Peak Climbing Itinerary. We are available for your assistance to knit a beautiful and adventure holiday package.

An Unforgettable Adventure to Annapurna Base Camp

I recently completed the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek, and it was nothing short of spectacular! From start to finish, the experience exceeded all expectations.

The trek takes you through such a diverse range of landscapes—starting with lush forests, quaint villages, and terraced fields, and ascending to breathtaking alpine vistas surrounded by towering peaks. Every day offered something new and awe-inspiring.

The highlight, of course, was reaching the base camp itself at 4,130m. Standing amidst the majestic Annapurna range with the sunrise lighting up the peaks was an emotional and humbling experience. It felt like stepping into another world.

Our guides and porters were incredible—knowledgeable, friendly, and always ensuring we were safe and comfortable. They shared stories about the region, explained cultural nuances, and even taught us a few Nepali phrases. The teahouses along the trail were cozy, offering hearty meals, warm hospitality, and a chance to connect with fellow trekkers.

While the trek is challenging at times, especially with the uphill climbs and altitude, it’s entirely doable with proper preparation and pacing. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure that combines natural beauty, cultural immersion, and a sense of personal achievement.

I’ll carry the memories of this trek with me forever and can’t wait to return to the Himalayas for another adventure. If you’re considering the Annapurna Base Camp trek—do it. You won’t regret it!
