How long does it take to do Mardi Trekking?

Itinerary of Mardi Himal Trek is about 10 days on a normal basis including arrival and departure. However, the number of trekking days is 3 to 4 days depending upon your pace and condition. Trekkers have to spend overnight in places like Forest Camp, High Camp, and Low Camp. These are the trekking overnight spending places. All of these places are inside a green lush forest and you can enjoy a total bliss and serenity. A tranquil time with nature provides natural healing of our soul too. Mardi High Camp to View Point

The most promising day of the trek is while hiking to Upper View Point (4200 m) from High Camp to enjoy a majestic sunrise. Trekkers can rejoice in the scenic beauty seen from the view point. It is joyous to watch the sun rising from east and lighting the entire mountain range including valleys below. The sight of clouds below is undoubtedly the sight to behold and get mesmerized. The scenery of mountains like Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Mardi, Gangapurna, etc. looks splendid but the best scene is of Mt. Machhapuchhre. This is the best vantage point to get the magical scenery of Mt. Machhapuchhre. It is fairly difficult to trek up to View Point as you will have to start the trek early in the morning before sunrise. After getting downhill to High Camp, trekkers start the trek to Low Camp which is completely downhill. Therefore, it is also the longest day of trekking during the Mardi Himal Trek in Nepal.

Can I do Annapurna Base Camp Trek or Poon Hill Trek after Mardi Trekking?

Yes, it is possible to do Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Poon Hill Trek after Mardi Trekking. The Mardi Trek route is one the outskirts of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek route. In fact, Poon Hill route is adjacent to the Mardi Himal Route. You can see the forest camp from the trail of Tadapani Ghandruk section of Poon Hill Trek. How difficult is Mardi Himal Trekking in Nepal?

Mardi Himal Trekking in Nepal is fairly moderate but it is doable to any age group. Brace yourself to walk continuous uphill in the winding trail through green lush forest in fairly high-altitude places. The highest point on this trekking route to spend overnight is about 3550 m that is the altitude of Mardi Himal High Camp. This altitude is fairly safe in terms of altitude sickness. We highly recommend you to avoid monsoon season (Late June to July). During this time of the year, skies are always covered by clouds and slippery trail make it hard for trekkers to enjoy the trek. In winter season, you may have to use crampons to walk on this trekking route especially beyond High Camp but is doable in this season too. For best experiences, choose April, May, October, and November for the trek.

What are the permits required to do Mardi Trek?

Like any other trekking trips inside the Annapurna Region of Nepal, the Mardi Himal Trek requires Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) permit. Besides this you don’t need to get other permits as of 2025. The talks of issuing rural municipality entrance fee are going on but it is not required yet.
