However, we should never forget the authentic classical trekking route. If you are looking to do a complete Annapurna Base Camp Trek then following a classical yet remarkable trekking itinerary is highly recommended.
The trailhead of trek up to Annapurna Base Camp is Tikhedhunga. Earlier the trail head used to be in Nayapul but the road expansion has curtailed the distance of trekking. Even if the road has extended up to Ghorepani we will start our trek from Tikhedhunga. The road condition from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani is very dangerous and it is not highly recommended. Therefore, our travel planners came up with perfect solution by including a drive portion up to Tikhedhunga only. Trekkers have to trek uphill for about 2 hours to reach Ulleri. It acts as a warm up for more arduous trekking days ahead!
Please remember that Ulleri to Ghorepani or Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani via Ulleri is completely uphill trekking. There are no continuous Nepalese flat sections. Therefore, it is very challenging for low fitness level trekkers. Build your physical fitness level and stamina before embarking on the journey of Annapurna Base Camp Trek in Nepal. Lots of uphill and downhill sections high up in the mountains make it hard for trekkers to trek easily especially if you are not physically fit! The chirping sound of birds, streams’ raging sound, and unique smell of forest keep on motivating you to reach Ghorepani. Upon reaching the village of Ghorepani the sight of mountains and surrounding cascading hills help you get relieved from all the tiredness accumulated while doing uphill walking.
Poon Hill (3210 m) is the most famous vantage point of the Annapurna region of Nepal. Nowadays, Mardi Himal is slowly getting lots of attention and popularity but so far Poon Hill is the pillar of short trekking destination of Nepal. This famous vantage point is an ideal place to witness gorgeous sunrise. Moreover, the hill endows great scenery of mountains like Dhaulagiri, Dhampus Peak, Himchuli, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna Massifs, Gangapurna, etc. Please book the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek package if you wish to do trek up to Poon Hill only!
It is the most asked question in an internet by users who wish to do Annapurna Base Camp Trek. However, the answer of this question is not single. There are many ways to reach the Annapurna Base Camp from Ghorepani Poon Hill. In this itinerary, trekkers follow the trail of Tadapani Chuile, Sinuwa, and Deurali route to reach Machhapuchhre Base Camp. Once you have reached the Machhapuchhre Base Camp then about 2 hours of trekking takes trekkers to the base camp of the world’s 10th tallest mountain.
The trekking route up to Deurali is well maintained and there are no issues of landslide or flood. However, the trekking trail from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp via Machhapuchhre Base Camp is also well maintained but this section is landslide risk area. Trekkers must heed instructions of trekking guide as there is risk of falling rocks while walking. Overall, the trail condition of ABC Trek in Nepal is in top notch condition. Therefore, both foreigners as well as Nepalese domestic trekkers are increasing day by day in this trekking route.
The location of Annapurna Base Camp is in such a place that you can get the panoramic view of Mountains! Therefore, the journey of Annapurna Base Camp Trek is also called as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. Early in the morning after waking up in the Annapurna Base Camp, you will be greeted with the visual delights of splendid mountains of the Annapurna region of Nepal including the almighty Mt. Annapurna!
The permit required to do trek in Annapurna region of Nepal besides restricted trekking regions is the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) permit. Nowadays, the provision of TIMS permit is no longer in use. Therefore, you don’t have to allot budget for TIMS permit. Please note that if you wish to visit restricted trekking regions of Annapurna region like Nar Phu Valley and Upper Mustang region then you must obtain the Special Restricted Area permit from immigration office of Nepal.

I recently completed the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek, and it was nothing short of spectacular! From start to finish, the experience exceeded all expectations.
The trek takes you through such a diverse range of landscapes—starting with lush forests, quaint villages, and terraced fields, and ascending to breathtaking alpine vistas surrounded by towering peaks. Every day offered something new and awe-inspiring.
The highlight, of course, was reaching the base camp itself at 4,130m. Standing amidst the majestic Annapurna range with the sunrise lighting up the peaks was an emotional and humbling experience. It felt like stepping into another world.
Our guides and porters were incredible—knowledgeable, friendly, and always ensuring we were safe and comfortable. They shared stories about the region, explained cultural nuances, and even taught us a few Nepali phrases. The teahouses along the trail were cozy, offering hearty meals, warm hospitality, and a chance to connect with fellow trekkers.
While the trek is challenging at times, especially with the uphill climbs and altitude, it’s entirely doable with proper preparation and pacing. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure that combines natural beauty, cultural immersion, and a sense of personal achievement.
I’ll carry the memories of this trek with me forever and can’t wait to return to the Himalayas for another adventure. If you’re considering the Annapurna Base Camp trek—do it. You won’t regret it!
The Langtang Valley Trek is one of the most rewarding trekking experiences in Nepal, and my journey with Mountain Watch Trek made it even more special. From the breathtaking landscapes to the warm hospitality of the locals, every moment of this adventure was unforgettable.
The Langtang Trek with Mountain Watch Trek was an incredible experience. The combination of stunning landscapes, cultural immersion, and excellent service made this journey truly unforgettable. If you’re looking for a short yet rewarding trek in Nepal, I highly recommend the Langtang Valley Trek with Mountain Watch Trek!
