Peak Climbing

Nepal is home of countless snowy mountains. Therefore, it is a paradise for mountain climbers. Moreover, the presence of 8 mountains out of 14 eight thousanders mountains of the world make it an ideal place to do mountaineering activities. What are the differences between Peak Climbing and Expedition?

People must know that mountaineering is divided into two categories. They are peak climbing and expedition. Peak Climbing is the activity of climbing trekking peaks below 7000 m altitude. These trekking peaks don’t require special technical team but mountains above 7000 m altitude require expedition permit. However, some trekking peaks need expedition permit to climb because of technical difficulty and terrain. For example, mountains like Lobuche East which is 6145 m height and Amadablam Mountain which has 6812 m altitude require expedition permit. However, mountains above 7000 m altitude mandatory require expedition permit. The team of expedition has Sherpa, moderator, observer, porters, communicator, physio, Government officials, etc. As for Peak Climbing you can simply climb the mountain with the help of Sherpa Guide, and Porter.

Popular Trekking Peaks to Climb in Nepal

Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has identified 27 peaks of Nepal as the trekking peaks. These trekking peaks are given permission to climb by NMA and they even provide climbing certificate upon successful completion of peak climbing in Nepal.
